Mentoring
Empowered by the Santa Clara University Mission to be
students of competence, conscience, and compassion, the
Entrepreneur's Connection prides itself on educating the
next generation of entrepreneurs. With this, the EC has
created a focus around mentoring.
This brand new initiative within
the MBA Entrepreneur's Connection and our efforts are just getting off
the ground. The mentoring group’s objectives include:
* Helping students to understand what
entrepreneurship really is... hint: it’s not just about
starting your own company (see the “What is
Entrepreneurship?” on the EC Blog).
* Providing students with the relevant
knowledge and resources they need to be successful in
running a business.
* Creating an environment where
students can meet and build relationships with business
leaders, entrepreneurs, and other talented people.
The mentoring team works within the
context of the MBA Entrepreneur's Connection overall mission to meet these
objectives. Mentoring programs will include various events,
workshops, and informational resources for students including; book recommendations, relevant articles, and links
to interesting web sites.
As explained below, our view of
entrepreneurship covers many aspects of running a business.
This includes aspects of “traditional” entrepreneurship,
such as starting a business, team formation, and venture
capital financing. However, it includes other
multi-disciplinary efforts as well, including business
planning, strategy implementation, and general management.
The EC has also partnered with other
entrepreneurial groups on campus such as the
Engineering and Business Alliance (EBA) and the
Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE).
Together we plan to hold a number of programs to meet our
collective goals towards fostering an entrepreneurial
community at Santa Clara University.
